Kodiak Hard Coolers
Rotomoulding, or rotational moulding, forms hard coolers by heating powdered plastic, typically polyethylene, in a rotating metal mould. The bi-axial rotation coats the interior evenly, creating a seamless, hollow body. This joint-free design reduces heat transfer, improving insulation, while thicker corners and edges boost strength and thermal efficiency. Insulating layers can also be integrated during production, resulting in durable, long-lasting coolers.
Yes, hard coolers work well for both hot and cold items. They feature thick insulation, often polyurethane foam, and a tight seal to maintain temperature. They can keep cold items chilled and hot items warm for extended periods, though duration varies with external conditions, cooler size, and packing.
Yes, but observe safety precautions. Always wear insulated gloves to avoid frostbite. Wrap dry ice in newspaper or cardboard to prevent contact with cooler walls or contents. Use the cooler in a well-ventilated space, and leave the lid or drain slightly open to let carbon dioxide gas escape safely.
Use warm water and mild dish soap with a soft cloth to clean gently. Rinse well and air dry completely. Clean the drain plug separately with soap and water and ensure it’s dry before reinserting.
No, only the 15L hard cooler comes with an ice pack. However, we have an exciting range of accessories launching soon.
- Using the hard, flat lid, you can prepare food outdoors, but cutting directly on the lid may scuff or scratch its surface over time.
- The robust build makes it sturdy enough to serve as a seat around camp, at a picnic, or in a fishing boat, keeping you comfortably off the ground or boat floor.
- The lid is also an ideal surface for serving as a drinks table, perfect for mixing up punch or cocktails at gatherings.
- On a fishing trip, the cooler provides a chilled storage for your catch.
- During colder months or in tough conditions, storing batteries in the cooler can help prevent them from getting too cold, which protects battery life.
- With care, a strong hard cooler can substitute for a low-rise platform, like a car jack, when you need a stable surface. However, it’s critical only to use it for light vehicle support (for resting tools, not lifting).
The test was conducted in a controlled environment at a stable 21°C temperature. The process included:
- Pre-chilling the cooler before use.
- Filling the cooler to capacity with at least 6.8 kg of ice.
- Keeping the lid closed with minimal openings to prevent heat exchange.
- Measuring the internal temperature continuously until all the ice fully melted.
This approach simulates real-world conditions while carefully controlling variables to ensure accurate results.
Kodiak’s testing combines real-world usage scenarios with a highly controlled scientific approach. By focusing on how heat interacts with the cooler’s high-density polyurethane insulation, the testing shows how this material significantly slows ice melting, giving a true reflection of the cooler’s ice retention capabilities.
This method ensures that performance claims are based on rigorous and transparent testing protocols, giving users confidence in the product’s reliability.
Kodiak Drinkware
Kodiak, take pride in delivering honest, high-performance gear built for real life. While the coolers are designed and tested for certified ice retention, the drinkware insulation performance varies based on a number of real-world factors, like starting temperature, ambient conditions, lid usage, and contents. How everyone uses a tumbler for example is different, for different things, in different ways.
Because of these variables, assigning a precise number of hours wouldn’t reflect the true, rugged versatility of the Kodiak range. Instead, all the products are focused on engineering drinkware that consistently delivers long-lasting temperature control, reliable durability, and everyday ease without overpromising or underdelivering.
Most of our drinkware fits standard cup holders up to 75mm diameter. Exceptions are the Cascade bottle and 414 Mug, which are larger, up to 95mm.
Yes, our drinkware is dishwasher safe.
Yes, it is designed for both hot and cold beverages.
Only the 350ml Sip Cup and 470ml Sip Cup have interchangeable lids.
Kodiak drinkwares are made from high-quality stainless steel with a durable finish designed to resist scratches in daily use, but they are not completely scratch-proof.
Yes, most of the lids in the Kodiak drinkware range include a pressure release function, which allows them to safely handle hot, cold, and carbonated drinks without any problems during normal use. However, this does not cover extreme scenarios such as vigorously shaking the bottle. The Cascade Bottle is an exception and does not have this pressure release feature.
Leakproof drinkware stops any liquid from escaping even when upside down or shaken, typically using screw-on lids and locking mechanisms. Spillproof designs prevent accidental spills during normal use, often via flip-top lids with locks or tight sliding closures. Kodiak drinkwares have these features to make them leakproof and spillproof.
No, microwaving stainless steel drinkware is unsafe and may cause sparks or fire hazards. Freezing is not recommended due to potential thermal shock and damage from abrupt temperature changes.
Yes, Kodiak drinkware is made from safe materials, including durable 18/8 stainless steel, and is free from BPA, lead, and phthalates. Additionally, Kodiak is committed to sustainable production practices, ensuring that our products are made with an emphasis on environmental responsibility. This makes Kodiak drinkware not only safe for everyday use but also a more eco-friendly choice.
We currently do not offer spare parts for individual product repairs. However, we have an exciting range of accessories coming soon that will complement your Kodiak gear and enhance your experience. If something breaks due to a manufacturing fault, remember that all Kodiak products come with a 5-year warranty, and we will repair or replace faulty items to ensure your satisfaction.
Warranty
The warranty covers manufacturing defects in hard coolers such as cracks or breaks in the body or lid not caused by misuse, faulty hinges, latches, or handles, defective seals or gaskets causing leaks, insulation failure, defective drain plugs, and structural defects in rotomoulded plastic or welded joints.
For drinkware, it covers cracks or fractures, chips or sharp edges, mold marks or seams affecting appearance or sealing, distorted shapes causing poor lid fit, defective or missing seals and gaskets, surface imperfections weakening the structure, lid defects like faulty locks or hinges, misaligned neck openings, and insulation failure.
The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, cosmetic damage, misuse, accidents, modifications, neglect or improper cleaning, or issues related to cooler performance like ice retention beyond manufacturer defect.
